What does it all mean?

Great song? Good show? Bad movie? What should be enjoyed and what should be avoided.

What does it all mean?

There is a commercial for insurance now running on TV:
Watch on youtube.com

Presumably, the message is that you never know how things can turn out, so you need to be prepared.

However, when I watch it, I see the guy time after time saying "I'll never..." and then the next scene he is in fact doing the never.

The last line is "I'll never leave you". Which seems to me means that the next scene would find him no longer with his wife.

Know as a Gilligan's Cut. You know why.

He could die.
Which is what life insurance is about.

Maybe, but he did all the other nevers of his own volition. Unless he blames the woman.

The way I interpret it is:

All the nevers except the last one are a lesson that life will happen to you regardless, and what sounds good today may not reflect reality.

Then the last never means that he is happy where he ended up even though it was not his plan.

Well I never did hear of such a thing.

State Farm. Sounds like a looney bin.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

I do understand the message they are TRYING to convey, it just struck me that the way it was presented, his declarations are proven to be unreliable.

Perhaps I am the only one who finds this mildly amusing. It hits me like when someone uses a double negative to stress some point, while the literal meaning is the opposite.
