Naked and amused

We have a TV series called Naked and Afraid. They take a guy and a girl, take them to some wilderness or jungle or someplace, make them strip down completely and they have to survive in the wild and make their way to some extraction point a distance away. They fight snakes. bugs, heat, cold, attitudes, whatever. I don't watch it, though I have seen parts of a few episodes. I find they all are pretty much alike, the running dialogues are all similar. They have to make fire and find food and water. And get along. They two people would never have met until they do at the start of the episode.

So I was looking through the TV listings, and usually there is a short episode description - the team fends off sharks. Or injury takes its toll. That sort of thing. SO I was surprised to see tonight's episode note:

In Stereo.

Thank the lord that as we watch them argue whether to cross the river or not, it is in stereo.

Oh, and of course the first thing anyone wonders...
They pixilate the boobs and crotchtral areas.

In stereo! But is it in color?

There is a show here called Naked Attraction where the schtick is that the contestants are naked and you see their bodies before you (and they) see each other's faces. And that is pretty much it. Nothing is pixelated though you sometimes wish it was.

Not only color, but LIVING color.

We do have a naked dating show where a couple is put together, they get naked and spend the evening as we watch.

There are a bunch of survival shows. One is two professional survivalists with contrasting styles living in the wild du jur. There is one where the guy is dropped in the wilderness alone - not even a camera crew, just a selfie cam - and has to make it a month. There is one called You're Screwed, I think, and they blindfold a guy or sedate him or something, then airlift him to some remote spot and drop him from a helicopter. he has to figure out where he even is - he has no idea what country, whether island or mainland, etc. Then he has to make his way to rescue. usually finding a village or a boat.

I'd rather watch historicals of Nazis or Egyptian Pharoahs

I think Ancient Aliens should pretty much cover both those for you. ;)

Oh those damned things catch me every time. I start watching a documentary about ancient Egypt, it moves along and all of a sudden Ancient Aliens is inserted and that mad man George (something Greek) starts talking. Pisses me off.

Yeah, but don't you think he may be onto something sometimes?

No. Every time I hear him and his brethren, it is always some really strained rationalization. And almost always a leap of faith. "We don't know how they erected these giant statues/temples/piles of heavy rocks, so clearly they must have had help from extra terrestrials. Those ancient people were every bit as clever and creative as we are today, they just lacked the few thousand years of advancing technology we have. But to think they were too stupid to solve basic engineering challenges is an insult.

There are pyramids in Egypt and pyramids in Mexico, how could these civilizations separated by an ocean build the same thing? Clearly extra terrestrials helped them. never mind the construction of the pyramids are completely different. never mind a basic geometric shaped pile of rocks is an obvious solution. Never mind the structures had totally different uses.

The moon hoax people do a far better job of making their case than the ancient aliens clowns.

Those aliens had a bit of a learning curve.

I think that was built during the great gravity shift of 4000BC.

I used to read a magazine called Popular Electronics. It covered electronics for hobbyists. At some point late in its life, the magazine was sold and new editorial staff came along. They wanted to broaden the interest. I saved the Sept 2001 issue, it is in my hand now. The COVER story is about the Great Pyramid. It explains how the whole darn thing is a giant radio tube. This went on for page after page. Stone is paramagnetic, and at exactly 76 degrees is electrifies...or something. We all know stone reacts to antennas, we see this when driving through tunnels. The outer skin of the pyramid was to be copper covered as one anode. etc etc etc.

Oh here is the same story:

Indeed. Just stumbled across this old article today, I missed it first time around.

The newly trending 'flat earth' bunch seem to be the most fun though.

If the Earth were really flat, cats would have pushed everything off of the edge by now.

It's never white folks who needed alien assistance to achieve great things in the ancient past, I notice.

White folks back then were located mostly in the north where it is colder. The aliens, being reptilian, avoided those areas.

That is worryingly plausible. For nonsense, obviously.
