Bladerunner 2049

Great song? Good show? Bad movie? What should be enjoyed and what should be avoided.

Bladerunner 2049

Saw this last night in 3D shoutyvision, I'm not sure it needed either and there were times the 3D made it look more like a video game than a film. I thoroughly enjoyed it but I'm not sure it would work as a standalone film.
Get it up ye.

There were parts of the original that reminded me of video games, but I got the impression that's what they were going for.

I’ve not managed to see it. I expect I’m now just waiting for the blu-ray.

I'd like to see it on an Imax screen, otherwise I'll probably wait till it's available for home.

The Mem didn't follow some parts as she couldn't remember what happened in the original, but then I'mnot sure which versions of the original she has seen. It doesn't gain much from imax or 3D. The cinematographer thinks it is best in 2D.

I think the Imax is mostly 2D now, but what I should have said was I'd like to see it on a giant screen.

It was good on the giant screen, it didn't seem as atmospheric as the original but that may be the passage of time and the fact that the original was groundbreaking.

Fell asleep during this and woke up for the end, with no idea what was going on. Will try to watch it earlier, and more sober.

Were you awake for the Han Solo cameo?

Tangent alert: One of our nieces is a huge fan of Star Wars but hasn't seen 4, 5 or 6, yes I know. She got them on DVD for her birthday and asked the Mem which she should watch first. The Mem didn't know and asked me, which lead to her saying "Yer Uncle Heid says "Wrath of Khan" is the best one . . ."

Oh, that reminds of a quote I've seen on the internet:

I vaguely recall seeing Indiana Jones in it, yes, but that was about the time I started to nod off.

The correct order for Star Wars is: Rogue One, 4, 5, 6. Then 7 & 8 if you must. Throw the others in a skip.

Not seen Wrath of Khan for ages! Was amused at Sherlock (in Star Trek Into Darkness) saying "My name is... KHAN", but disappointed that Kirk didn't say "But I live in THIS universe, not the viewer's universe, so I've not seen The Wrath Of Khan, so have no idea who that is". That film is a thinly veiled remake.

I forgot to say - my cousin did some of the special effects for this, is listed in the credits and won a share of an Oscar for it. Huzzah!
