Being trailed heavily here, Armando Iannucci has been all over tv talking about it. I can see it on Friday. :)

I’ll be in India, maybe I can see it there.

It is getting good reviews here but I have no idea why Zhukov has acquired a scar next to his eye. The minor liberties with history I have no problem with, since otherwise there is so much back story you would need a miniseries.

You'll get the Bollywood version with songs and dancing. Mumbai again?

Mostly, but I wonder why you ask? Other than an overnight at the airport last year, I haven’t been there for six years.

He's on to us! Act casual.

Shit, caught out again . . . Er . . .

You mentioned Mumbai, but not that it was an overnighter. Other than that idle curiosity since I was there earlier this year.

Haven't heard of it here at all.

I've seen trailers, but it hasn't appealed - despite catching a glimpse of what I'm pretty sure is Michael Palin.

He's Molotov. Steve Buscemi is Nikita Khrushchev.

I thought maybe you were joking but see that you're serious. Hooray for Steve. :=D:
We have heard absolutely nothing of this film up here either. Now I'm very interested.

This is news to me, I thought he died quite a long time ago...

Yeah, he's looking pretty chipper for a 140 year old.

It is an excellent little film, other than the (presumably) CGI funeral in Red Square it is mostly atmospheric talking in rooms. I'm slightly irritated by them giving Zhukov a facial scar but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Is it a comedy, or a snooze-fest?

It is a comedy, and the Mem enjoyed it despite not knowing a great deal about the history. It is a bit shooty and quite sweary (but not Tuckeresque) and the comedy is nicely understated but done with the timing you would expect of Palin, Whitehouse et al.

Finally saw it. Glad I did.

Even if it was CGI, I liked the Red Square scene, as I was there a few weeks back.

Beria was just creepy. The incompetent Malenkov was hilarious. Got to see Brezhnev in the theatre audience for a few seconds at the end.

Zhukov was a little too “Lord Flashheart” for my liking.

Zhukov was overplayed, but the rest were great.

Yes, I agree. I very much liked it.

Cockney Stalin took some getting used to, but since he died early on, that was only an issue for a short time.
