Bingewatch Watch: Jack Ryan

The hero is this time played by Joe Krasinski, and he has to overcome an Islamic tarrist challenge against the good ole U.S. of A. which would just dwarf 9-11 - He succeedss, saves the villain's family and his boss' career on the way, gets laid by a top-notch epidemiologist and saves POTUS from catching Ebola. You, know, what CIA officers do on a slow afternoon. I did a rare binge-watch of the eight episodes yesterday and tonight. As second season is planned for '19.
It's a bit cheap on the psychology (the villain is a noble character who turns villain out of noble wrath, hurt sense of justice, and personal spite), but it has very intense imagery of the Arab world as not being shithole countries, and lots of undubbed Arabic dialogue. It's cleverly made, and has some gripping action. The Land of the Free doesn't get a TOO outrageously favourable treatment. So go ahead, it's fun in a popcorn, beer and nachos kind of way.
