Watching a couple hour show about the Enola Gay. Covered the planning of the mission and all the various efforts that went into it. Just had a cursory explanation of the bombs, just enough so we'd understand the guy installing the uranium while in flight on Little Boy. Show features lots of film but also interviews with the participants.
At one point Col Paul Tibbets lamented that people today don't really even know what World War 2 even was. He said he heard someone refer to it as "World War Eleven".
REminded me of teh time the local news lady told us about bird watchers joining the "Autobahn" Society.
