Spicebird

Postby Мастер » Thu Aug 11, 2011 4:02 am

I relented, and went back to Thunderbird (it's been a while, new version, etc.), and it promptly ate some of my emails again.

So, looking for alternatives. I came upon Claws (under evaluation), and then Spicebird.

My first impression is, it really really resembles Thunderbird. I wonder if it duplicates the bugs in Thunderbird.

I always, say that if you can't be with the bird you love, then love the bird you're with,

but if the bird your with is doing you no good, then ditch that bird and get another bird.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

DOn't you know, the bird is the word? Everybody knows that the bird is the word.

Same problem observed with Spicebird.

I am operating under the hypothesis that the "Smart Folders" feature, which pools all of the inboxes from all of your accounts into a single, common inbox, is the culprit. I'm doing some tests of that hypothesis.

Since I have turned off the "unified folders", I am unaware of a single email message having been corrupted or otherwise shredded.

Well that didn't last. Spicebird has now officially eaten some of my email, even with "Unified Folders" turned off.

An email client that works under both Windows and Linux, and doesn't destroy the mail. Is it really that hard to find?

I use Eudora. Since 1995, no problems. (Slinks away, mocking laughter ringing in my ears.) :P

Inconsistent with my objectives, as there is no Linux version.

Hey, I have a typewriter as well. Not sure where to buy ribbons for it though.

Or what to use it for.

So, in the last ten years, I have used Outlook, Thunderbird, Spicebird, and Zimbra. The only one that has not destroyed email is Outlook.
