Well I like the name a lot better than Mavericks. Not sure about the OS, as I haven't installed it yet.

Should I?

I installed it on my lappy day before yesterday. If your mac doesn't have the retina display you don't get the glitzyness of the new icons. (My Mid 2012 macbook pro doesn't have the retina display). As you would expect, some functionality is lost on some older apps (I have schematic-drawing software that now no-longer works on that laptop)

I don't have retina display on either of my Mac computers, but I may get a third before long.

I think Yosemite is quite ugly compared to its predecessor.

It also seems to have broken my LaTeX installation. pdfLaTeX still works, but XeLaTeX doesn't.

If the document is entirely in English, I can generally compile it with pdflatex. If it contains a single Chinese, Cyrillic, or similarly non-English character, I have to use XeLaTeX, and that no longer works. It should be possible to compile such documents with pdfLaTeX, but I haven't been able to do it successfully yet.

No, I shouldn't have!

Currently using the "Time Machine" application to return the system to its state before the "upgrade".

I surrendered. I've now been assimilated into the Borg.
