Meteor Hits Norway

Postby Superluminal » Sat Jun 10, 2006 3:21 am

Seems a fairly large meteorite has struck in the mountains of Norway.

I was trying to get to that story for several hours yesterday so I could post it but I couldn't get to their servers. Probably overloaded or something.

I'm glad someone was finally able to get to it. Thanks.

and...

OMFG, it's the END of the WORLD I tell ya. That was just the TIP of the ICEBERG. Wait until the REST of it gets here. It'll wipe out all of Europe and cause a tsunami that will destroy Asia and North and South America.

Just wonder if it could be a piece of Comet Encke? Tunguska happened in June and some astronomers speculate that it could have been a part of Encke. Not sure off the top of my head but I think there is a meteor shower in June associated with Encke.

Some of the kooks have been trying to claim that the
impact is the beginning of Comet P73 finally hitting
the Earth.

I just want to know if they have even found an impact
site. I have come across an account by a Norwegian
that said that he went to where the pic was taken and
found dead vegetation underneath the rockfall that was
many weeks old, so that can't be the site.
