Comet Elenin Disintergrates

Postby Superluminal » Wed Aug 31, 2011 12:50 am

http://www.universetoday.com/88494/come ... tigrating/

Just like Comet 1999 S4 (Linnear), Elenin is crumbling away into nothingness as it approaches the Sun. Based on its performance as it approached perihelion, a couple of astronomers had predicted it may fracture.

Last night, just after reading this, I was listening to Richard Hoagland on C2C and :glp-1rof1: as he went on and on about all his wacky theory's about Elenin. Ain't gonna happen now.

It's an old story, they get a little fame and they fall apart.

Super - do you think there will ever be a time when RCH falls out of favour with even George Noory, or do you think he will always keep getting invitations?

(I am asking because, much that I know of C2C's fame, I can't listen to it, so I don't know what kind of charcter that Noory guy is...)

My own opinion, Noory is a generic talk show host. Doesn't challenge the guests much. Is credulous enough to keep them talking. In the case of Hoagland, little effort is required to keep him talking. Today we will be discussing the end of the world a month from now, then tomorrow's guest and he will discuss some other event to take place a year from now. One show's guest's thing doesn;t get in the way of another show's guest's thing. One guy senses that the sun is about to explode, while another has some other agenda. And of course any conspiracy in a storm.

Here's the web site, and you should be able to listen to it stream online, if you want.

Ja, Arneb, pretty much what Enzo said. That's why he's in my employe, even if he doesn't know it :P . I don't listen to C2C that much, I pop in, listen for a few minutes, when my head starts hurting, I tune to FM and find some mind numbing music to kill the pain. As for Hoagland, he's had so many claims that can't be proved, that he'll say something like, "I don't really believe this theory, I'm just throwing it out for everyone to consider." As long as he's entertaining and has his little cult like following, he'll be on C2C for life.

Hmmm, kind of a court jester. That's how they end, those who once set out to overthrow evil mainstream science. Sad, really.

Well, there it is. The monster comet that was going to kill all of us. The right image has a drawing of where Elenin is supposed to be. So much for the latest doomsday comet.

It could be there. Hiding behind dark matter. See how it looks dark where the comet should be? Sure sign of dark matter.

Probably a UFO hiding there as well. Beware!

The doomsdayers were just confused, that's all. After, Elenin was a world - albeit, a very small one - and all those end-the-world prophecies weren't all clear on which world was meeting its demise.

...

Or, there was another "alignment." One which was not detected even by the doomsdayers, themselves. A positive alignment which was so powerful, it not only canceled the negative alignment created Elenin, but destroyed Elenin altogether, thereby saving the world. What powerful positive was this? You can find out in my book for just $10.99 USD.

...

Or, silly astronomers, Elenin activated it's cloaking device, and went into stealth mode. We're all still going to die. Run, I say! Run for the hills and prepare yourselves!

...

Damn, I'm out of Mountain Dew and sugar-glazed doughnuts. Better get something productive done before I crash and go into a coma.

This could be our last look at Comet Elenin.

All that's left of Elenin is a very faint cloud.

So the cloud should stay in orbit, right? And if the earth ever passes through it, we'll get some metero showers?

The debris that is left should stay in the comets original orbit. But we'll have to wait 12,000 yrs. for it to come back. The cloud will dispurse by radiation pressure from the sun.

No, no, Mactep, this gives you something to live for.

Meet you back here, October 22, 14011.

I will wear an anchovie in my buttonhole so you will recognize me. (I may look a little older.)

Anchovies will be extinct by then
