I wasn't sure how high in the sky it would become visible, but got about an 1.5 hours of visibility before it passed behind the cloud bank on the western horizon. Very cool.
For some reason, a highly stylized artist's rendering of the conjunction, often described as a photo taken by the BSU observatory, began making the rounds on Facebook and other social media. A quick web search turned up a "clarification" by the Charles W. Brown Planetarium at Ball State University, acknowledging that the image was actually from their virtual program "The Christmas Star." They gave no indication if they knew how the image began to be circulated as an actual photo of the event.
