Kalla beat Bjoergen, which was a bit of a surprise.

Sweden - Japan at hockey, which is a good close game. Women’s hockey can be better than men’s as skill is more important than speed or strength.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 1 - 0 Dynamo Dresden

I think it is the first tim e this season that my neck of the woods contributes two victories to our count. AND Fürth leave a direct relegation place in favour of the relegation playoff spot for the first time since early fall.

Our balance is still negative though...

Good effort. County didn’t play this weekend, so that should help our win/loss tally too.

Hertha are at home to Mainz, and Greuther travel to top-spot Düsseldorf, so a mixed bag at best from this side of the North Sea

It’s great when I’m there with friends, but going to help a salesman on a Saturday isn’t as enjoyable.

Please hurry harder girls. Another loss and they may have to declare a national emergency.

The Scotland football team has a new manager Alex McLeish. He did the pretty job well, but briefly, in 2007 - leaving in circumstances which alienated him from a large proportion of supporters.

Oh dear.
Another loss, and big controversy over the burnt rock. People are calling for her to be burned at the stake and a different team subbed in.
I've heard some are flying their flags at half-mast. ;)

My heart-felt condolences.

I didn't know women's hockey was a thing in Canada. Our women's football team has been fighting for recognition for thirty years now, and almost no-one is halfway concerned whent they lose. Which they do, more regularly than they used to.

Very surprised how badly the Canadian curling wifies are doing, I must say. Three losses in a row? Heads must roll!

BTW - I am not too much into the Olympics, and even less into figure skating. But hey, Germans can be elegant, too, if they are from Ukraine and France:
Watch on youtube.com

Aren't they great?

After the end of the performance, you can see a well-preserved, but overmade-up lady in the audience. That is Kathatrina Witt, who won Olympic Gold for the GDR in Sarajevo (1984) and Calgary (1988). Savchenko and Massot's choreography was curated by Christopher Dean, of indelible Sarajevo Boléro fame. Remember Sarajevo? Yogoslavia?. This Sarajevo, and that Sarajevo? Yeah, we are really that old.

I’m sure it was a very efficient performance...... ;)

ETA - ah, Kathatrina Witt. Great to see her. She was brilliant, and extremely foxy to my early teen eyes.
