Brazil 2 - 0 Mexico nets me 6 valuable points. 3 for getting the correct score, doubled for using my "joker" for the round on that match. So far, I've got all but the first Brazil score right :)

I have that as 3-0 for Poirot. So you can be sure that Japan will win on penalties after a tedious 1-1 draw.

Well, darn. No Mexicans, no Germans, no fun.

On the other hand, we have a chance at France v Russia or France v England in the final.

Meanwhile, it's Belgium 0, Japan2 half an hour from time. Doesn't anyone behave normally here?

2-2 now, 20 mins from time. Might get a point for a Poirot win yet.

And 3 - 2 to the waaterzoi slurpers it is. Japan go out, but with a big round of applause. All the five goals were a charm to watch.

Up today,

Coca farmers - Perfidious Albion

Cheese hole wankers - Baaad carpenters

I guess Lianachan has the first game as 4 - 0 for reasons of principle, and the second one is insignificant anyway, because it only determines who goes down against the winner of the other match.

Here's a nice one our Prtuguese house officer told me yesterday: Whats the difference between Germany and a tea bag?

Spoiler:
The tea bag stays in the cup for longer.

On the subject of Germany being knocked out of the cup, somebody here said:

Spoiler:
Germany haven't tanked that badly in Russia since Kursk

I'm just relieved they never had to play in Volgograd. That would have made for quite some really bad jokes.

Predicting an Perfidious Albion victory while hoping for a defeat is probably a smart move. Sure to get something out of the match regardless of the outcome.

Breaking non-news: Jogi Löw will stay in his job as Bundestrainer. I think that's a mistake, but he has quite a few points in his favor. Having reached every semifinal since 2006 and being reigning World Champion are two of those.

Yes, obtaining predictor points would be some (slim, but some) compensation for seeing the Pinstripe Poofters progress. Especially since they'll have an easy game in the next round.

Any Scotland manager who achieved anything like he's achieved would be in a job for life, and carried around the country on joyful shoulders on a weekly basis.

Aw, shit. PPs go through 4-3 in penalties. But honestly, the CFs weren't worth it.

Awful refereeing yet again. England lucky to get that penalty, and that the ref was only punishing Colombians for diving and fouling but letting English players do whatever they liked.

I'm sure you can imagine what it's like over here.

Is Scotland the only country in the world that has foreign football commentators and coverage foisted upon it? Would Germany enjoy only having coverage from the Netherlands, or Brazil having Argentine coverage? Doubt it very much.

Excellent! They both have the potential to be good matches. I can tell you not to expect the following results:

Uruguay 1 - 2 France
Brazil 1 - 1 Belgium (AET).
