RIP: Ric Ocasek

This is another one I have to admit that I thought already had died. I may have been thinking of Benjamin Orr.

Anyway, The Cars were a favorite of my older sister's, so here's to you Ric.

Yep, too bad, I liked the Cars.

I hadn't thought about it, but he was a couple years older than me.

Huge Cars fan - never realized Ocasek was the age he was. He - they - gave us some great music. I say they as the band’s albums as a whole are, I think, much better than any of their solo works.
Is there such a thing?

I used to thrash that Cars record in the 1970s.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

They were quite a bit older than their 'new wave' peers when they came out. As great as that first album was, it took a while for them to be considered acceptable to more mainstream audiences. I remember in high school when Candy O (2nd album) came out, people (& radio) all of a sudden started talking about them and I was kind of 'huh? where have you been?'.
A look at his production credits give a better idea of just how influential he was, a lot of stuff I never knew he had a hand in.
