Der Spiegel is at this minute pseudo-post-after-whatever livetickering the 1996 European Championship semifinal between England and Germany. They are 9 min. into extra time, and England have just squandered about 50 chances. I really like this as a kind of postmodern exercise in times of Corona terror. As long as they don't do '66.

Nostalgia question: Did any of you watch that game, and where, how, and with whom did you watch it?

WE WON!!!!

Gareth Southgate puts the 6th penalty into the hands of Andreas Köpcke, and Andi Möller makes it a glorious 7 - 6 after penalties. Beeeeeer!

Shall we use it for the count?

I can’t remember it, being so long ago, but I can confirm I would have been watching it and cheering along with you wherever I was.

Not much in the way of sports, but Hertha have suspended one of their top strikers. He posted a live stream on facebook in which he shook that hands of all his colleagues on the team. :glp-1doh1: ](*,) :glp-furious:

the usual apologies, I didn't really give it a thought, Sala Kalou's behaviour has been quite unaccepatable, bla, bla, bla. Let's just say they don't get rich for being brainy, alright?

The video is here at Der Spiegel, you'll have to go through an ad to see it. They'll let you chose between two different spots. Take the Médicins Sans Frontière one in my honour, be a sport.

Of course now, everyone who is anyone and gests a mic shoved up their yapper is saying how they shocked and shaken at this level of irresponsibility and how they would have expected sooo much better of high-earning professionals supposed to be role model and.... :glp-yak:

"If you handle it like this, you'll have a very short season relaunch" should be way sufficient.

During the matchday, players and staff kept to hygiene rules pretty strictly. Except Herha's. They formed thick blobs of players hugging each other after each goal.

Later they said, yeah, we know, but it's only a recommendation, and emotions, and Mannschaftsgeist, and ... and also, that happened only when we scored. :glp-1doh1:

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 2 - 2

We scored a late equalizer against the promption favourite, so I'd say IRU had a good footie weekend.

The Scottish League has been called as it stands, pretty much. Rangers second, RCC tenth and safe from relegation. Hertha and Fuerth are doing the heavy lifting from here.

Played 149, won 71, drawn 28, lost 50.

There is an outside chance Rangers will have to play their second leg against Big Pharma away in the Wee European Cup but I wouldn’t hope for anything better than a draw and probable loss.

Hertha BSC 4 - 0 1. FC Union Berlin

Olympic stadium derby without spectators, meh. It's the first time since antiquity, probably, that Hertha have won two in row, both something to nil. I don't usually believe in exchanging managers every few weeks, but this season was just so herthaed up they had to try something new. Old Hertha hand gets tired --> put in a totally unknown old Hertha hand who did the under-21s before --> throw him out in 15th place, install Jürgen Klinsmann, cuz..., well, Klinsmann --> get rid of Klinsmann, cuz..., well Klinsmann --> cling on to Klinsmann's asistant whose best reference was a 17-match non-winning streak with Bremen ---> finally, install an experienced coach, with moderate successes on his roster, who has a reputation of bringing structure and dependability to a team. And who is the fuck NOT an old Hertha hand. Because success, you see, is not in our genes. That has to be b(r)ought from outside.

34 points, six to go until the season is safe, from seven matches. I see a light.

It will be an all-wins weekend. Fürth aren't playing because their opposition, Dynamo Dresden, is quarantined due to Corona cases within the team/staff. These are the times.

Hertha look a lot better than we are. In the 7 remaining match days, we have to play all the teams placed 2 through 5, plus Freiburg, in 7th. All we still got against lower-placed teams is a home match against Augsburg (12th), and an away match in Frankfurt (14th).

We are only three points away from a palce that could possibly see us throught to Europe next season, and 11 points above the relegation playoff spot. But the reality is we'll be extremely lucky to get to 40 and achieve our usual 12th-to-14th glory. Keep your fingers crossed.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 0 - 1 VfL Osnabrück

Played 150, won 71, drawn 28, lost 51.

We'll probably have enough points for non-relegation, but finishing in the single figures would be nice for a change. And Osnsbrück isn't an eager promotion contender, so meh.

Bundesliga was decided yesterday, predictably, by a 0-1 home defeat of Dortmund to Bayern München. Hertha away to CL contender Leipzig tonight. This is not looking good.
