Something I have been thinking about is this. If you were abducted by a UFO, wouldn't the LAST thing you would believe is that you were REALLY abducted by a UFO?

Now, just wait a second before you answer. Imagine if ET was walking down the street. Wouldn't you first think it was an animatronic robot or something radio controlled or even someone in a really good suit or costume?

This makes adbuction stories harder to believe. If Rael says that an alien explained all sorts of secrets of live in France to start his religion, don't you wonder if someone might have been playing a trick on him BEFORE you actually take him seriously?

(this sounds like a Norm MacDonald comedy routine...{takes off mask} "It is me, Bob!")

----------

If I were to start a cult or a following, wouldn't a more believable story for me to invent (lie about) would be that me and a group of Holliwood make up artist and aerospace engineers made a fake thing to see how gullible the French are to start the Raelian movement? I could start emailing the Raelians and tell them that, yes, Rael is telling the truth, but here is a more palusable reasoning behind his abduction.

Just like alot of people who believe they have seen bigfoot are telling the truth. But what they really saw was some redneck in a gorilla suit.

Actually, Bill, that makes a lot of sense.

That's a good point. I've never thought of that before.

Some people are so eager to believe,
that even the imaginary becomes real.
