We Didn't Start the Fire(1989-present)

Postby St. Jimmy » Fri May 12, 2006 11:24 pm

This is a song I wrote to the tune of Billy Joel's, We Didn't Start the Fire. The lyrics in my song are for events and people from 1989 till present. Anyways here it is:

('89)
The Simpsons, crack cocaine, Marilyn Manson,
Fall of the Berlin wall, Nirvana, Dilbert, Gun Control,
('90)
Edward Scissorhands, Fresh Prince, arson in “Happy Land”,
Roald Dahl, Jim Henson and Stevie Ray say good-bye to all,
('91)
John Heinz is no more, Super Nintendo, Gulf War,
Magic has HIV, Highway of Death, Mercury is a memory,
('92)
Blink-182 start to sing, Bush gets sick, Rodney King,
Mae Jemison, Tyson, Kentucky vs. Wasson,

CHORUS:
We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it
('93)
Bill Clinton’s president, Audrey Hepburn came and went,
Jay Leno, Great Blizzard, bombings, Janet Reno,
('94)
0for 4 curse strikes again, we’ll all miss Kurt Cobain,
“If it doesn’t fit we must acquit”, Lion King is a hit,
('95)
Polykov sets a record, Immigration policies are bettered,
Eazy-E dies from AIDS, Oklahoma City needs some maids,
('96)
Dallas Cowboys win a third, Oh no, another blizzard,
Dolly is the first cloned sheep, Tupac’s dead so people weep,

CHORUS
('97)
Mister Rogers gets a star, Ennis Cosby shot from afar,
Seizures caused by Pokemon, Princess Diana’s gone,
('98 )
Satellite Kwangmyongsong, Bill Clinton did very wrong,
Drexlar’s baby killed at birth, John Glenn returns to Earth,
('99)
Columbine High school massacre, Star Wars fans are back for more
Kevorkian goes on trial, Can you do it matrix style?
(2000)
PS2 is finally out, X-Men rocked without a doubt,
Homestar Runner goes online, No Y2K, it’s party time!

CHORUS
('01)
Runescape Classic rules the net, Bush is our new president,
Earnhart dies helping son, we’ll remember 9/11
('02)
Pretzels are not for Bush, Tyson is boxed to mush,
Marc Hall, Hannsen, Angels win in baseball,
('03)
1, 2, 3 Strikes you’re out, Mosley win the bout,
North American blackout, I just want to scream and shout!

CHORUS
('04)
Asian bird flu, The L-Word, Annette Lu,
Ashley Simpson cannot sing, Duran Duran is back again,
('05)
Bush had a close call, we’ll miss you Pope John Paul,
Armstrong wins number seven, Troiano goes to heaven,
('06)
We say good-bye to Buck Owens, M.I.3 is now showin’,
That 70’s Show is going away, what else do I have to say!?!?!?

CHORUS
Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion....you must first set yourself on fire.

Hopefully not to be sung in Billy Joel's super-high-pothead-happy major key arrangement...
And so I watch two new suns spin; our paper man doesn't call - burnt shadow printed on the road, now there's nothing there at all.

Two thumbs up!!
In my hands I hold a candle whose flame is small to see, And if I give but one light to you my life is filled for me.
But...In your hands you hold a torch for many eyes to see, So hold it high that they may light their candlewicks from thee.

Not officially, I have yet to transform him, I must first make sure he is adequate enough for dragon-hood.

That's not a dragon, it's a wyvern. One that looks awfully familiar to me.

Image

then again, all wyverns look alike.
:D
edited to add picture taken by me at the Holter Museum of Art in Helena, MT.

It was a school project is why I had to do it, and my history teacher wouldn't let me put South park in it.... :(
