An ode to the BAUT automailer for its automated birthday message.

O BAUT, long though I fail to post,
And oft gave burden to your host
With pointless messages, in which
I added not a single stitch
Of thought or reason (though I did
Once read about some giant squid,
And play the word association game),
You didn't care, for all the same
Your automailer sent my way
A greeting mail for my birthday.

I do appreciate the thought
(Although it's from a mindless bot),
For though with every visit you
Annoy me greatly, adding to
The top of every forum page
A banner bidding me engage
In conversation with the other
Members. (What are you, my mother?!)

All the same I thank you for
The birthday email message your
Mailbot sent to my inbox
When even my close friends forgot.
Now, BAUT, since I am twenty four
I shall try to post a little more,
And add some thoughtful dialogue
(Or maybe I'll even sign off, go out, and get a life, but just what are the freakin' odds?)
