Oh, that happened to me, too. She is one of those YECs (or should I say, jecken) who believe humans and dinosaurs roamed the Earth together some, uh 5800 years ago.

YEC and jecken? Sounds to me like a Jew from Germany, but I don't think that's what you're saying...

If you pronounce YEC as a word as if it was German it sounds like "jeck". That is yiddish for "crazy", but also used with the same meaning in common German usage. "Bist du jeck??!!" is what my strict aunt used to shout at me when I had again...never mind.

"Jecke" is also the name for the carnevalists in the Rhineland region where I am currently living. So, it's a nice coincidence that YEC (Young Earth Creationist) pronounces the same way for a German. :P

YEC == Young Earth Creationism? This came up about fifth in a google search, but none of the others seem to fit.

Hey Arneb, I got YEC right away. I think Mactep was distracted.

Obviously doesn;t hang around in the Skeptic community.

By the way, what's the correct pronounciation of the governesse's name? Like, "he was visibly palin' when I told him I'd call my pal in". Like the first or like the second?

It seems universally to be "PAIL in" in the news, but I don't know if that's the way she says it.

Apparently her television appearance Saturday was a big hit. I didn't see it myself.

Thank you, [strike]master[/strike] [strike]MakTEP[/strike] [strike]KOS[/strike] dude. But it would seem you still have other issues with the way things are pronounced.
