Well I've been saying for a long time that GWB ought to be DJT's #1 fan, for precisely that reason.

One of the most telling was an interview last night with the former US Deputy Ambassador to the UK. He was fired a couple of years ago - by the Ambassador, not by Trump himself - for writing a paper in which he said that Obama had handled a diplomatic problem with the President of Senegal well. That was ruled to make him a "traitor to the President and a traitor to the United States". Now, as Mr. Ambassador was preparing to get on a plane on Thursday and go into quarantine when he gets home, his former Deputy gave an extended interview, spilling the beans on the Ambassador insisting, against advice, on leaning on the British government to move a golf tournament to Trump's course, saying both Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo had been deeply harmful to the US global relationships - reminding us that he was speaking from the perspective of a 30 year diplomatic career and finishing up by saying he hoped that the Trump Presidency would be viewed in history as a 4 year aberration, "a blip". It really couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

Nah - even GWB looks at Trump like, "What the hell?"

The interview with Lukens is one I was told about and will have to actually listen to. Sounds like he laid a lot of shenanigans on the line.

I am really looking forward to political operations in general getting back to some semblance of normal.

I know he does, but he should thank Trump.

GWB was historically unpopular when he left office. Now, a lot of his critics probably remember his administration as "the good old days".

Trump trying to drum up interest in his departure ceremony tomorrow morning. He has ORDERED attendance by military personnel at the air base. His invite list includes people like Scaramucci and Bolton for god's sake. The invites also way "bring five friends".

They never showed a wide shot of the, ahem, "crown" crowd, most likely under orders not to. But the sense I got from the few low angle views there were, plus the lack of abundant cheering, I'd put it at a few hundred at most.

I think you meant crowd, but it would be funny if he decided to wear a crown today. :glp-1rof1:

I would have thought a lot of people would have been very enthusiastic about DJT leaving.

One more hour and he is history. He'll still be dangerous, but without access to nuclear arms, the biggest military in the world, Air Force One, a large and obedient White House Staff thousands of employees in ministries and unlimited free ad time at the major networks. Thank God you have pulled thorugh this, and thank you, 81+ million Americans who turned out to give his opponent the biggest vote in American history and ended this utter nighmare.

Well, we'll see about that!

Just saw Barack Obama on the television. He is, by far, the most recently born person to be president of the US, by about 15 years. George W Bush, Donald Trump, and Bill Clinton were all born within a few weeks of each other in 1946. Joe Biden is substantially older.

Among the wannabes, Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney are a year younger than the Clinton/Bush/Trump trio, and Al Gore would have been the youngest of all today, except for Barack Obama.

So of all major party candidates for the presidency, the youngest one today is Barack Obama, who is 59. The second youngest is Mitt Romney, who will soon be 73.

Can Obama be a candidate? Even if you include him the youngest is Harris at 56. Assuming she turns out to be "one of the good ones" and not "uppity".
