Cut off medical nose to spite health workers faces

Postby tubeswell » Sat May 08, 2021 8:09 pm

Anyone else going through this at home? (Seems like a dumb thing to do during a public health pandemic)

Public sector wage freeze to pay for COVID-19’s 2020 wage subsidies

One lefto journo’s view
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

The English health service pay increase is a pay cut in real terms.

Depends on the spin put on it I guess.
It's for workers earning over $60K, supposedly so they can 'prioritize those earning under $60K'. So what exactly they mean by 'prioritize' becomes the lynchpin, at least for me. I figure more of the 'frontline' workers would be in the under $60K bracket, so if it frees up more raises for them, I'm ok with that. If it's just carry on with status quo for the under 60K, and cuts for the over 60K, then I understand the concern.

Same with lefty journo's complaints. She talks about those earning 'only a shade above minimum wage' and how it's a 'kick in the teeth' for them. Well, it may be a bit presumptuous of me, as I don't have the stat, but I'd dare suggest $60K is more than a shade over minimum wage? Those cleaners, etc. should not be affected.
