Stay of Execution

Postby Мастер » Tue Nov 09, 2021 6:58 pm

Someone from Malaysia who was convicted here of drug trafficking and sentenced to death (the mandatory sentence in at least some cases) has tested positive for COVID.

He was to have been executed Wednesday morning (so, about now, I’m not sure what time), but the execution has been delayed.

It’s important to make sure people are healthy before they are killed.
They call me Mr Celsius!

Well, I suppose there would have been a decided irony if a hangman were to meet his own end as a result of his work.

Although you're right, there is a decided attitude that if someone is sentenced to death, their demise should be by execution and not due to any other cause. Back when the UK had the death penalty, those who committed suicide while awaiting execution were said to have "cheated the hangman". And as Arneb will know, when convicted Nazi war criminals did so, their captors' reaction was definite dismay.
