That's an interesting bit of history, given the few shots the Viennese had at the Cup. But then Hertha have won anything many times fewer than almost anybody, over any period. OK, two German Championships, 1930 and 1931. Aach, my Auld Auntie.

BUT we're up two nil at the 80th.

Phew! The ball was in the net for the equalizer at 90+5, but the assistant ref. indicated a foul by the attacking team - none of the live reports could see what the foul was, and there is no VAR in the first rounds of the Cup. So, goal disallowed, game over, yellow for Heidenheim's coach, who is livid with rage. Ah, I guess, sometimes it's Hertha's turn for a gift from the refs, don't you think? Someone has to keep them from fucking up every time, all the time.

Hertha BSC 2 - 1 FC Heidenheim

in the second round of the German Football Cup. Yes, we can beat a Bundesliga team, and we go to the round of alst 16.

Played 59, won 30, drawn 13, lost 16

If it's any consolation, even the German press is writing articles about how it suddenly isn't a two-horse race anymore. I even learned that the manager who last won a non-Old-Firm Championship '86 (yes, '86) was a young hot-shot named Alex Ferguson. Wonder what became of that guy.

I remember him, he was one game away from being sacked in his second season at ManU. They won and the rest is history. You want a better stat? No English manager has ever won the English Premier League in the twenty odd years since it was renamed.

Ross County 0 - 0 Heroin Suppers

Meh. A home win would have been nice, but at least we didn't lose.

Played 61, won 30, drawn 14, lost 17.

I wonder who those are... :-k
A Google search turns up empty for this particular insult, but curiously, Motherwell appears on page 1 of the search results for 'which scottish football club is derided as "Heroin Suppers"?' Is that the correct answer?

Better known, perhaps, as the Leith Soap Dodgers. Even better known, likely, as Hibernian FC. A green and white club from That Edinburgh.

It bears looking at that both the Leith Soap Dodgers and Sellick are on the downwind side of their cities.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 1 -5 SV Darmstadt 98

I mean, are they kidding us? That was against a thoroughly mediocre team from below us in the table (well, they aren't below us any more), not against a heavy favourite with an eye on promotion. Third home loss in a row, the home games this season were 3-1, 1-1, 0-0, 1-2, 0-4, and 1-5. Does anyone see a trajectory here? In 12th, four points above relegation territory. A storm of booing and whistling from the stands, a very bad sign for our family-friendly little club.

Hertha host Cologne tonight. Similarly gifted at fucking up and of the few clubs I really hate, so let's hope.

Played 62, won 30, drawn 14, lost 18.

Is anyone surprised? I am not.

Hertha BSC 0 - 1 1. FC Köln

I am getting too old for this.

Motherwell 1 - 2 Rangers in the Wee Cup, we were awful in the first half and gifted them a goal. It just means we get humped by Sellick in the final.

From yesterday:
St Mirren 1 - 1 RCC

Played 65, won 31, drawn 15, lost 19

You underestimate our defence and overestimate our attack. It was actually 0-0.

SV Darmstadt 98 3 - 1 Hertha BSC

Taking in early leaad, then saying, ah fuck it, they can have it back. Had a second goal disallowed though after a long VAR intervention.

1. FC Köln 1 - 0 SpVgg Gruther Fürth

A game lasts 97 mins at the least, not 90, idiots.

All this is very bad news for our count...
