Two up and cruising after 20 minutes then we gave away a soft goal. I don’t have access to a lucky shirt so this could get ugly.

Worth noting that Hertha have sacked their manager with all his assistants today. I told you a few things about Pál Dárdai. It was not difficult to see how someone who is at heart an honest football worker would fail amid grandiose investor dreams, a decrepit, get-all-you-can-while-it-lasts culture in the team and surroundings, and Berlin's typical oh-we're-so great hyperbole. I hope he gets his old job back at the youth acadamy, but I couldn't blame him if he was looking for something else.

Next, Tayfun Korkut, a coach in his thirties who made headlines a few years ago with his modern speed football blablabla ideas but hasn't held a steady job since being fired from Stuttgart during their relegation season. What can possibly go wrong?

Giovani van Bronkhorst our new man seems competent and has changed the tactics slightly which is good rather than sweeping changes that the players can’t cope with. Of course he brought in a handful of new people as seems to be the way these days. One is from Ajax’s youth academy which is promising because the last man had no interest in our young players. GvB played for us for a couple of years so he knows what he’s let himself in for.

ETA, Tayfun Korkut is 47 - two years older than Pál Dárdai. I must have thought you must be younger if you are as inexperienced as Tafun Korkut. His credentials: 18 months with one Bundesliga club since relegated, plus two three firings from Bundesliga clubs after less than a year. Hertha wrote in their press release that Korkut had "proven that not only can he stabilize a team but develop it further, with his meticulous work and idea of football". When, I am curious to know, did he indeed prove that?

Hertha didn't tank over the weekend, somewhat unexpectedly:
VfB Stuttgart 2 - 2 Hertha BSC

But Greuther, predictably and expectedly, did.
Big Pharma 7 - 1 SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
It sucks. It sucks so badly!

Played 86, won 35, drawn 13, lost 38

Our slow climb from the bottom of the league continues.

Ross County 3 - 2 Dundee

We’re now 2nd last, on equal points and goal difference, ahead of St Johnstone. On, I don’t know, alphabetical order or goals scored or something.

Played 88, won 36, drawn 14, lost 38.

Hertha gaining some ground as well, although our relegation competitors scored points as well (except the one we beat...).

Herha BSC 2 - 0 Arminia Bielefeld

Played 89, won 37, drawn 14, lost 38.

Greuther at home to Union this afternoon. The way Fürth refuse to play at Bundesliga level and the way I've grown fond of Union I'm not too sure whom to root for, as if it mattered.

Catching up:
Soapdodgers of Leith 0 - 1 Rangers
Lyon 1 - 1 Rangers
Currently two up away to Hertz. Good to see RCC off the bottom.

Played 91, won 38, drawn 15, lost 38.

Wha...wha....WHAT?
SpVgg Greuther Fürth 1 - 0 FC Union Berlin

This is big - it is Greuther's first Bundesliga home win *ever*, and that includes our infamous 2012 relegation season, when the tally at the end was, like, 8 points or so, with one away win and a few draws. We are at four points now, with, 19 matches to go. I don't see this as the beginning of the great catch-up, but we might yet manage to avoid the "worst team evar at every statistic you care to mention" title.

AND IrU have their first (and probably only) four-win weekend this season. Huzzah.

Well, the ref kept the game going long enough for Celtic to score in the 97th minute, even though only 4 minutes of injury time were announced.

Ross County 1 - 2 Celtic

Played 97, won 41, drawn 15, lost 41

We didn't score at home to a direct competitor...
SpVgg Greuther Fürth 0 - 0 FC Augsburg

Meanwhile, Hertha are already one down, so everything's normal.

Played 99, won 41, drawn 17, lost 41.

Wha...wha...WHAAAAAT?

We scored three in a row after the interval, and held out until the end for

Hertha BSC 3 - 2 BV Borussia Dortmund 09

Christmas can come, I guess. 21 pts., half the rent after half the season. We might yet survive, even if it's not both my teams.

Rangers 1 - 0 Arabs

Played 101, won 43, drawn 18, lost 41.

Good stuff from Die Alte Dame, they might survive after all.
