Wow. Two-nil up at the 55th, and it's not looking half shabby. Dare we hope?

Looking good for the last 10 min, some nice chances for the Krautländers, and hardly anything from the Frenchies,

France 0 - 2 Germany

Only a friendly, so not for the count, but it's been a long time since it was fun to see Germany play.

And can anyone explain to me how a Dutch footballer would get the name Denzel Dumfries? Did Holland somehow snatch him from Sotland?

No idea, particularly since his parents are both immigrants. Maybe part of the Scots diaspora, maybe an ancestor grew up in a town named by Scots. My former business partner's grandparents had the choice of keeping the Italian spelling of the name, and having it mis-pronounced, or changing it to a phonetic spelling. Which is what a Dutch cyclist Floortje Mackaij, daughter of Roy Mackay, went to a phonetic spelling.

Tough weekend ahead for Arneb and his in-laws: Hertha is hosting deä Glubb tonight, while Greuther try to rain on Hamburg's parade tomorrow. Wish me, and the count, good luck for the Easter weekend.

Les hommes qui ont des relations sexuelles avec des moutons 2 - 1 Ross County

A good old fashioned six pointer we could have done with a point from.

Played 146, won 70, drawn 27, lost 49.

This afternoon, a helicopter flew over the house. Not unusual but this one was extremely low, and I recognised it as the air ambulance. It appeared to land at the shinty pitch about 1/3 a mile from my house. 5 minutes later an ambulance passed at great speed with all lights and sirens on. Been wondering what happened. The local shinty club just posted on social media, and it seems the referee of the shinty match collapsed with a heart attack and his life was saved by a quick thinking player who knew where to get and how to use a defibrillator. Other players, officials and supporters helped. He's in hospital now, hope he has a good and speedy recovery.

Hetha 3 - deä Glubb

Famili peace preserved, both teams heading for mid-table mediocrity, and bad for the count.

Played 147, won 70, drawn 28, lost 49.

SpVgg 1 - 1 HSV

Ditto....

Played 148, won 70, drawn 29, lost 49.

Interestingly, this double drawn result is bad for all four family clubs: Hertha, Greuther and deä Clubb are all losing sight of the promotion placements, while Hamburg have now conceded their playoff spot to Düsseldorf, who trounced K-town yesterday

Even in Texas, everyone talks about Hertha's 3 - 2 win away to SC Paderborn. Three goals off four shots by a seemingly inferior team, with two late scores and a narrowly missed even later equalizer. Fuck yeah!

Played 149, won 71, drawn 29, lost 49.

Yeah ha! Old Firm Derby tomorrow, or the day after, who the fuck knows with time zones. I’ll be in yet another castle until it’s all over. Or hasn’t started yet. Whichever. Paris - Roubaix tomorrow, hopefully a good race, there have been far too many serious crashes lately.

Kilmarnock 1 - 0 Ross County

Looking increasingly like we're not going to escape the relegation play-off spot.

VfL Osnabrück 2 - 0 Greuther Fürth

This should make sure we aren't promoted. We can all breathe easier now.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 2 - 1 1. FC Kaiserslautern

Hertha BSC 4 - 0 FC Hansa Rostock

It's been a long time since we had a double winner this side of the channel.

Played 153, won 73, drawn 30, lost 50

These victories also mean we should both be out of relegation land, Fürth having jumped the 40 point mark five games ahead of the finish line Hertha sitting at 46. For Hertha, there is even a narrow window towards promotion. We are sitting between 5 and 8 (depending on how the weekend goes) points below the playoff spot. A gritty team holding the dagger between their teeth (so not Hertha) would say, let's take a shot.

Nothing to be gained for our count this weekend, as it's the IRU McDerby. Rangers are the only Scottish team Ross County have never beaten - a proud record I fully expect to see maintained in Dingwall tomorrow.
