Bush Denies Racial Component to Response

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - President Bush denied Monday there was any racial component to people being left behind after Hurricane Katrina, despite suggestions from some critics that the response would have been quicker if so many of the victims hadn't been poor and black.

"The storm didn't discriminate and neither will the recovery effort," Bush said. "The rescue efforts were comprehensive. The recovery will be comprehensive."

Does anyone see a problem with this?

Why does everything have to be racial? This so pisses me off.

I saw those people on TV looting, and they were black. They were told to evacuate, and they didn't. They had the means to evacuate, and they didn't. I remember Lance's link from the Weather Service mentioning the horrible destruction that was to come.

Most poor people (Black included) live better than me.

I agree with Barbara Bush, these folks are in a much better position than prior to the Hurricane (I'm not quoting directly).

New Orleans will be rebuilt. These same displaced folks will have better homes. I saw where Habitat for Humanity has over 200 new homes planned for rebuilding. That was two weeks ago, I bet the number for new homes is much higher with the donations from us all that have to continually watch this on TV. I think I have given over a $1000 dollars now (that's a mortgage payment for me). I can't afford more!

Home Depot's stock has shot up. For those of you investing, now is the perfect time to make some money.

If the Blacks continually make everything a race issue, I'm getting to the point where I will make it that way, too!

And I don't want to!

I'm sorry, but I'm getting to the point that I want to be a segretist. I'm coining the phrase segretist, because it is not in the dictionary.

I just told neocracker that I came from poverty after my parents divorce.

At the age of 13, I detasseled corn and washed dishes just to make money to buy new clothes for school. I was also considered a child with learning disabilities that same freaking year. I was shy and naive, and in some ways, I still am.

Living the American dream is not that hard, people. I did it.

It took me 20 years without government assistance, so I know the future assistance programs hold more hope. I didn't know about these when I was struggling to get ahead in life.

Another sore spot with me: SCHOOL's need to educate our young one's on grants, student loans, etc... Our school's don't do that now. Otherwise, it wouldn't have taken me 20 years to get out of poverty!

Perhaps, if poor people stopped having unwanted babies, we could control this issue.

I'm an unwanted baby, so please "KISS MY BUTT IF YOU DISAGREE!"

Okay, I'm done being pissed (for now). :)
