I don't think I have Nero. The "lite" version of Roxio came with some PCs I had a few years back, and I still have the CDs. It doesn't seem to be installed on any of machines now. Maybe I rebuilt these things sometime after burning the CDs, I'm not sure.
Anyway, I installed isorecorder, and the "Recording..." progress bar is at 24%. We'll see how this goes...
I should add, both of the CD images I'm trying to burn, I've burned before, but I've carried these CDs around so much they've gotten banged up and actually broken (yes, cracks not just the CD case, but the CD itself), and can't be read.
Burned one ISO image to disk using isorecorder - this failed to produce a bootable CD. Burned the other ISO image using a copy of Roxio I found (and had to install), this produced a bootable Knoppix CD. Since they are different images, I can't conclusively argue that the problem is isorecorder. But, I am about to try to reburn the other image using Roxio. As soon as the fire alarm stops and I can get back in the building.
Wow! Groucho Marx on/ When he burns a disk, he really burns a disk! /off
Glad all is well (except for the guy living in the basement apartment.)

The other image didn't work when recorded with Roxio either, so I don't think the problem is the CD burning software (although Roxio did tell me that something went wrong, whereas isorecorded just said "Finished!"). Downloaded the image again, and surprise surprise, it's slightly smaller this time. I suspect the original image was mistakenly downloaded with FTP in ASCII model instead of binary, but I'll burn this new image now and see how it works.
