.pdf conversion

Postby Arneb » Fri Jul 01, 2011 11:22 am

So I want to edit a .pdf, use an existing document as a template for a new one.

Is there anything I can do except, well, buy Adobe?

A Google of "Edit PDF" turns up some free software possibilities, but I don't have any experience with them.

How big is the document? And how complicated is the formatting? Is a simple cut-and-paste viable?

Sadly, no. It is about making a template for a symposion invitiation. I want to stay within our corporate design, but fill it with my own content, taking a different invitation as a template...

Part of the point of PDF is to protect the content from exactly such use. The recommended way is to get the original source and make it your own.

Even buying Adobe Professional isn't going to guarantee the document will be editable. If it was created from, for example, a scan, it will still only be an image and not directly editable.

It's hard to make a good recommendation without seeing exactly what you need to do.

I was afraid so. After all, the point of a .pdf is to be something like a print.

I wanted to take the older invitation, leave the design elements (logos, graphics) where they are and wanted to substitute texts and photos. Kind of like a powerpoint master.

I blush to suggest it, but rather than [strike]steal [/strike]borrow it outright, have you considered contacting the originators and asking if you could use it?

Of course I did - I contacted the head of PR. He said maybe he could get hold of the original .doc file, buit that was after I opened the thread...

I have no experience with this alleged product, but it sounds like it might do the trick for you.
