Was listening to news radio this evening, and they were giddy with excitment. This "supermoon" is even more rare than the "blue moons" which happen every couple years. They told us the mooon will be a lot bigger and brighter tonight because it is closer.

I wanted to ask them HOW MUCH larger and brighter than, oh say, last month, but I doubt they'd get the question. I can expect some emails soon telling us the moon will fill the sky, and maybe stay full all week. Like that Mars approach a while back. ("It'll be BIGGER THAN THE MOON!!!!")

Yeah. Still, Enzo, anything that gets people to abandon their televisions for a few minutes and actually look up at the night sky (excluding fireworks :roll: ) must be a good thing.

No. You can comfortably hide the Moon, whatever the distance, behind your pinky with an outstretched arm.
