Science News 1/27/7 It's all for McNaught

Postby Enzo » Fri Feb 02, 2007 12:13 pm

COmet McNaught came and went and I never saw it. Then again when Halley came I only saw it once when it was a tiny little fuzz patch.

Now CM is in the under half of the sky

What a great view, makes me want to go down there.

The brightest comet in 4 decades is flaunting its dusty tail over southern skies, as this Jan. 18 photograph taken from Dunedin, New Zealand, attests.

It's on the fade down there too now. A couple of weeks ago would have been the best time to go.

My buddy Jim is in South Africa now (since 1/17) and said the comet view was spectacular.

I've got two issues of Science News sitting unread on my table. I've gotta stop doing all this homework. Well, I did, because it's done, but now I have to apply for financial aid this weekend with the taxes being done and all.

Oh well, it's not like I missed out on a comet I could have seen here in Michigan.

Ya, considering we get maybe three days a year without clouds, it's just the luck of the draw what is in the sky those days. At least Venus has returned to the evening sky.

Oh, come on, when it's absolutely freezing it's clear! Like when it was -9 degrees (without windchill) the other night.

So clear it was crazy. I didn't go out--figured I'd be the next item in the frozen food section if I did.

OK, but the comet already had left when it got cold. Besides, we haven't seen below zero in several years. I don't know what happened this year. Damned groundhog anyway.
