Ronoh, I think it's just a bunch of people standing around each other's telescopes peering at the sky. Lots of fun! (Seriously, I wanna go to one someday.)

It took me a minute to work out why the Star Party rather than the trip to Spain was the exciting part.

Have fun anyway.

Update: Okay so even though I told my parents about this star party, where and when it was. Well just about two weeks ago, they decide that they would plan a weekend vacation for the same weekend as the star party and my friend Leah's B-day party!!! And my dad doesn't want me staying at home because he's scared that I might throw a party or have some kind of sex orgy in his room. So now, in order to go to the star party I have to find a friend that meets these 3 requirements.
1)Willing to let me stay at their house for one weekend.
2)Parents that are willing to give me a ride to Leah's for her B-day party.
3)Parents that are also willing to give me a ride to PSR for the Star Party.

If all else fails I can live without requirement 2, but will be sad.

Ok. I am back. I had alot of fun! When it started getting dark at about 10:00, it got really cloudy. :( So Mr. Merritt set up the big projection screen and we watched Star Wars Episode 3. About halfway through the movie the clouds finally decided to run away! Hooray! So we all walked over to the big telescopes and looked at planets, stars, and some deep space objecst until the clouds came back. We looked at jupiter, the ring nebula, a binary star, and a couple other things that I can't remember the names of. But like I said the coulds came back and didn't loook like they were going away, so we went back to the dinning hall and watched Star Wars Episode 4. THen went to our tents, slept, got up, packed, and then ate a french toast, sausage, ham, doughnuts, all you can eat breakfast!! With.....COFFEE!!!!! Oh yeah, I forgot about making hippie all jealous! The main telescope we looked through had a 24" diameter. I don't remember what the length thingy (how many feet the light travels in the telescope) but I will have pictures of it later. The other telescope we looked through had a 12" diameter, with a length thingy of 15'. I've got pictures of that telescope too. When I get the pictures developed I'll post them here.

Did you get to see Albireo? It's a binary at one end of Cygnus (I forget which - head or tail) that one member is yellow and the other blue. I've seen it and it looks spectacular. :D

He dislikes the QUALITY of digital. In order to get film-quality pictures from a digital camera, you need a very expensive camera. Like the one his parents have but won't let him use.

Take my camera. It's pretty grainy because it only save pictures in JPEG, and won't let me save in Bitmap, which I'd dump onto the computer, edit, THEN save to a more compressed format like JPEG or GIF.

BTW, Jimmy. You're only bragging about the size of the telescopes you saw because you don't have anything else to brag about the size of. Burn.
