Dark sky - light pollution

Postby frogesque » Thu Aug 04, 2005 8:38 am

I was out early on Wednesday morning searching for an alternative dark sky location. (Two of my other sites are now being built on - not happy. This now means a 30 mile round trip to get anything like descent sky.)

This was the result though :)

NE horizon (slightly out of focus). Light pollution is from Bridge of Earn/Perth direction reflected off cloud.

Zenith, a few Perseids were zipping about but I think they were being camera shy!

These were 30 sec exposures at f2 and star trails are evident on the full size shots (see segment below) though normally I wouldn't be using such a long exposure. For aurora it would be between 2 and 10 sec.

BTW, A couple of horses suddenly waking up and snorting at you from the other side of a fence at 2.00am don't 'arf give you a start! Who said the countryside was quiet?

Nice frogesque. Thank you for posting them.
No trees were killed in the posting of this message.
However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
