Strip mining the solar system

Strip mining the solar system

Postby KLA2 » Thu Jul 21, 2011 8:56 pm

"You would go to the moon for long-term clean energy," Kulcinski said, "because this is really an enormous source of energy. There is 10 times more energy there than there ever was in fossil fuel on the Earth."
http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/innovation ... ?hpt=hp_t2

Would that this was true, or rather, that the energy source was real, harvestable and useable in a cost effective manner.

This, plus the speculation of vast mineral resources on Phobos and Deimos, may trigger the commercial exploitation of space by private industry.

“Spacecorp. Strip-mining the solar system.”

Hope that will be a good thing. :-k

Wonder when the IPO of shares will start.

I don't know if there are any minerals at all that are so expensive they should be mined in this way at present, and it's going to take a lot to change that. 100 years from now? Who knows. Tomorrow, next year, ten years from now - I'd be extremely surprised.

When you consider the scenery, very much worth the drive.

You don't HAVE to live with me, dear. You can always go to Colorado. Might even save a little on gas...

Bourbon really hurts. I hear. Especially with a beer chaser.
