DSU 74 - 48 Sterling

Despite missing half of their free-throws, DSU are dominating on the boards and capitalizing on the poor shooting by Sterling.

And the scrubs are in. DSU will play #1 ranked Thomas More (Kentucky) on the 20th. The win extends DSU's winning streak to 23, and Sterling's loss ends their 30-game winning streak.

The great climactic France v Wales showdown occurs in just over 42 hours.

England, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy cannot win the tournament.

If Wales win, draw, or even lose with two bonus points, or lose with one bonus point and France with no bonus points, then it's all over, Wales win. In other outcomes, it will depend on what happens in the postponed France v Scotland match.

You kick someone in the head and it is a straight red? The game has gone soft.

Well given that many footballers have to go to ICU if you look at them cross-eyed, a kick in the head is almost like the Tsar Bomba.

Scotland 24 - 10 Italy at the half.

Neither team can win the tournament at this point. Scotland can still act as a spoiler for France, but that does not depend on the outcome of this match. So this one is really just for pride.

Italy haven't won a match yet, and this is their last. Scotland have won one match so far (against England), but this comparison is slightly unfair, because they haven't played as many matches as the other teams - their match against France was COVID-postponed.

So it seems likely at this point that Italy will come in sixth place (last). Scotland might come in fifth, but it's still eminently possible for them to finish ahead of England, and possibly also Ireland and/or France, depending on how the other matches go.

It seems probable at this point that Wales will win the entire tournament with a "grand slam", and Scotland only lost to them by one point.

And against Wales we had a an sent off in dubious circumstances. Not “kick in the head” but arguable.

I didn't get to watch any of it, and I'm thankful I didn't make the hour drive to go see it live - DSU was thoroughly outplayed by Thomas More today, 74 - 47.

Scotland 52 - 10 Italy
Ireland 32 - 18 England
France 32 - 30 Wales

What an outcome! Wales blow it in the final seconds, no grand slam, and France can still win the tournament.

In order to win, France need to (1) defeat Scotland next week by 21 points or more, and score four tries or more, or (2) defeat Scotland by exactly twenty points, and score six tries or more.

If France defeat Scotland by exactly twenty points and score exactly five tries, they will share the tournament championship with Wales.

In any other outcome, Wales win the tournament.

Wales are a really good team as long as they have a man advantage.

They were down two by the end.

And they were ahead until the final seconds.

But, it is out of their hands now. It is up to France and Scotland.

Half time in the Old Firm game, one all. Entirely meaningless to the table, deathly important to some people.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth 2 - 2 1. FC Nürnberg

Avoided a derby defeat by a late equalizer. Good for in-law relations, bad for the table and the count.

Hertha currently one up at home against Leverkusen. We must win this in order to avoid finding ourselves in a relegation spot. The competition scored unexpectedly...

Played 143, won 70, drawn 29, lost 44

Southern Pricks 1 - 0 RCC

Referee forgot to give a dodgy penalty against us this time, which is a novelty. Had to be (and were) beaten fair and square.

Played 144, won 70, drawn 29, lost 45.

Scummy scumbags 1 - 1 Us

Played 145, won 70, drawn 30, lost 45

Having been at or around 50% wins all season we’re starting to drift south.

I couldn't believe my eyes, to be honest. "Hertha diddn't play like a relegation candidate, and Bayer didn't play like a CL candidate" was the sober summary in my favourite newspapaper. World Cup qualifiers next, then it's off to the East for the Union derby on the Easter weekend.

I know! And the South Dakota State Women lost to a city that Archimedes couldn't even save (Syracuse University) in a similarly dismal fashion.

University of South Dakota women are my last hope for local college basketball that I care about. They play a very good Oregon team, though. But, you never know.
