Our manager has left the club today. Ah well. I suppose his job was to avoid relegation, and he made a decent fist of that.

They'll make anything possible, as long as it doesn't violate actual physical laws-

And, oh, in case anyone's just about interested enough to acknowledge:

Germany 3 - 1 Canada
At the ice hockey world Championship.

Yes, you read that right. What is this comparable to: Fiji beating the All Blacks? A fourth Leaguer beating ManCity in the FA Cup? I am somewhat at a loss, but quite happy.

BREAKING: As you know, the Bundesjogi is also The Last Jogi during the European Championships. To the surprise of no-one, he will be replaced by his formaer assistant, Hans-Peter "Hansi" Flick, of 7 titles in 1 1/2 seasons with Bayern Munich but miffed at still being ordered around by the board of directors fame. Excellent choice, in my book.

The NHL is still in the early rounds of its playoffs, but that's still pretty darn impressive.

Ross County have appointed a new controversial, but likely very good, manager. The club has also just announced the departure of 10 (fucking ten!) first team players as they’re not getting new contracts. This includes the player who has played for us more times than anybody else, who is also our highest ever goal scorer. Also going, our club captain (another time served County man) and many other good players of long standing status at the club. I think they deserved better than a press release saying that’s them off. Most of them had a season or two left in them, too.

I wouldn’t be happy with Malay Mackay, he’s style over substance. And that is if you ignore the scandal. It is a shitty way to treat your long serving players, you need some continuity.

Yes, shitty way to treat players - particularly those who should have been carried out of Dingwall on the shoulders of grateful supporters, accompanied by trumpets and much rejoicing. Malky MacKay I’ve not made my mind up about yet. He is extremely experienced, both as a manager and in other leadership roles for the SFA, UEFA and FIFA. He’s very open and contrite about his previous transgressions. At the moment, I’m tending more towards what-the-hell-give-him-a-go than burn-my-County-stuff, though I know many season ticket holders who will not renew, and it seems a significant proportion of our support is outraged by his appointment.

I wouldn't be outraged and I'd keep my ticket but I wouldn't be happy. I'd wait him out for the two years he'll be there.

So, Bundesliga lineup is complete: Cologne prevail over Kiel for the First League (0-1and 5-1), but the Third-Leaguer (Ingolstadt) does it against Osnabrück for the Second (3-0 and 1-3).
Having both my clubs in the Bundesliga is nice enough, but it's bad for our count, mind you. We should root for less than 50 % defeats, instead of 50 % wins...

And three German coaches in a row to win CL. You're welcome, world.

Gentlemen, I have somee news to report and a question to ask

Denmark 6 - 7 Germany after penalties
Netherlands 0 - 1 Germany
Portugal 0 - 1 Germany,

in quarter-, semi- and final of the the Under 21 UEFA Football Championships. Germany have now won the tournament, and literally nobody believed they would because everyone else was just so much better than us, and their transfer value towered above ours.

Shall we include them in the count? It would give us

Played 182, won 91, drawn 40, lost 51.
Looks nice, eh?

So, we are at 50%. I don't see our team score two victories in our European group, but at least we have a shot.

Do we create a Euros 2020 thread or do we just complain about it in here?

I think this thread has seen enough traffic to be used for that shitty little tournament. Also, 'Schland is in it, at least for three matches, contributing to our count, so it'll be busy anyway.

Being in the ABI (Anyone but Italy) fan club, they didn't get off to a good start tonight.

Ok, fair enough. Scotland haven counted for us for a while - for political reasons for me, and you’d have to ask Heid his reasons (players not caring so why should he, from memory).

I was supporting Turkey tonight, partially for you (solidarity, brother) and partially because I spent an enjoyable time in Istanbul Constantinople Byzantium, already have Turkey and Fenerbahce shirts and my brother’s first wife was from İzmit.

Edited to add - Italy looked much better today than I think I’ve ever seen them, and they weren’t even diving. They’ll be a force to be reckoned with in this tournament.

Edited again - I can only contribute part-time to ABI, as I am now fully engaged with ABE.

So, so far we have:

Turkey 0 - 3 Italy

Today sees the first UK involvement. Matches are (UK times):

14:00 Wales v Switzerland

17:00 Denmark v Finland

20:00 Belgium v Russia

Thumbs pressed here for the yodelling clocks (intae they Brexit bastards), the bacon scandies and Putin’s workers.

Schär showing what sacrifice for your country is. Wales have been lucky, though that Seferovic has kept missing - let's see how the 2nd half goes.

The England-Scotland game in part 2 will be interesting, but the real question is whether either can beat Croatia. My guess is Croatia will win the group - oh well, my colleague will be happy. I haven't seen enough of the Czech Republic to make a call there. I see what Arneb means about Germany's group, but the win against Portugal recently should give a psychological boost if nothing else. And given that it's unlikely that England and Germany will meet this time round, Arneb will be pleased to know that I should be able to root for Germany right the way through.

I don't see us prevailing against France and Pprtugal, I really don't. But heck, Portugal went on to win the thing after scoring three straighr draws in the first round, so anything's possible.

Wales 1 - 1 Switzerland

Wales very fortunate overall, though they did score during a spell when they were pretty good. Swiss should have had this in the bag by half-time.
