To me, the form of the "curve" would suggest a time-dpenedent quantitiy: Somthing that has low numbers for a long time, with ups and down, sometimes shrinking to zero, and then exploding onto the scene at the end. But the numbers on the x-axis don't suggest time as the independent variable.

The numbers on the x-axis are time. "1" is the first unit of time, "2" is the second, "125" is the 125th.

Yes, they are. And for what it is worth, the months begin and end in the time zone where I am located most of the time (UTC+8). If I did the graph according to your time zone, it would probably change, but not very much.
